Head of Bar – Hospitality Group (Canggu)

Are you a highly-driven individual with extensive experience in the hospitality industry? One of Singapore’s leading Hospitality Groups is searching for a Head of Bar to join their team immediately for a brand new Canggu venue. 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organising and leading the beverage program according to company, local, and regional policies and standards. Reporting directly to the Head of Beverage, the Head of Bar is highly operational and not opposed to being in the bar during a busy service and delegating/managing.

In addition to managing teams, seasonal menus, events, and ensuring overall cleanliness and the highest health and safety standards in beverage and food handling, the Head of Bar is responsible for preparing and maintaining the beverage budget with the General Manager and Head of Beverage. A successful Head of Bar leads a successful team, works well under pressure, is creative, owns the overall beverage budget, and implements systems to increase revenue streams.

 

Requirements :

  • Open for local candidates.
  • Oversee the operations of 3 bars (2 bars until rooftop opens) and manage a team of approximately 10 to 12 bartenders and baristas.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a similar business, with consistent and stable experience.
  • Proven experience as an inspiring leader and operational Senior Bartender/Bar Manager.
  • Passion, creativity and willing to bring the team up together.
  • Experienced in managing labour, purchasing, vendors, and quality control while achieving revenue results.
  • Well-versed and timely email etiquette as well as good written and verbal communication.
  • Experienced in training, leading, executive production and beverage experiences from high volume to slow and intimate.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Up-to-date with the latest industry trends and customer preferences.
  • Energetic, hands-on, and motivated.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to lead by example.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and departments.

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee all Bar operations, including recruitment, onboarding, disciplinary procedures, staff appraisals, and training.
  • Delegate duties to staff based on expected business levels, such as events, private parties, and public holidays.
  • Ensure teamwork, training, and synergy between front and back of house staff through proper communication.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to maintain high standards of service and knowledge.
  • Ensure adherence to and implementation of health and safety policies at all times.
  • Educate and train staff on safe work habits and proper procedures in case of dangerous or unsafe situations.
  • Enforce processes to run an effective and efficient bar and coffee program while maintaining the highest standards of drink quality.
  • Work with the Head of Beverage to purchase and produce top-quality beverages, create seasonal menus, and maintain recipes, pictures, and specifications.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, including spirit ordering, coffee ordering, and beverage cost control.
  • Ensure proper storage procedures, equipment maintenance, sanitation, hygiene, and overall cleanliness to meet company and local standards.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction by maintaining high standards of drink quality and presentation.
  • Address and resolve any customer complaints or issues promptly and effectively.
  • Assist in budgeting and financial planning for bar operations.
  • Monitor and manage expenses to ensure profitability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as marketing and events, to coordinate and support special events and promotions.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with senior management to align bar operations with overall business goals and strategies.
