Product Development Manager – Luxury Handcraft Brand (Kerobokan)

One of our clients, a luxury handcraft brand based in Bali, is renowned for blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design to create timeless handwoven accessories, and is looking for a  talented and experienced Product Development Manager to join their team.

The ideal candidate will oversee the entire product development cycle, including trend forecasting, design, material sourcing, prototyping, and production. You will collaborate closely with designers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the products meet the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

Requirements :

• Open for local candidates. 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Product Design, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in product development, preferably within the luxury or fashion industry.
• Strong understanding of the product development process, from concept to production.
• Excellent design and technical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, manufacturers, and suppliers.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in written/spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia.
• A passion for fashion and a commitment to quality and innovation.

Responsibilities :

• Working with the Founder/Director to develop comprehensive range plans and architecture, considering factors such as sales analysis, seasonal trends, target market, and brand positioning.
• Working with the Founder/Director to develop new products that are aligned with company brand vision and market trends.
• Create detailed design briefs and technical specifications of each new product.
• Oversee the product development process from concept to production.
• Conduct product training with the entire team (everyone including CS Event Mgr, Prod, Warehouse etc.)  to introduce new seasonal styles to launch.
• Source high-quality materials and components from reliable suppliers.
• Research and identify new materials and trends in the market.
• Negotiate favourable pricing and delivery terms with suppliers.
• Conduct field trips to source materials and visit supplier facilities.
• Establish new supplier relationships and partnerships.
• Calculate accurate product costs, including material costs, labour costs, and overhead expenses.
• Create and manage sample production timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate with suppliers and production teams to ensure timely and accurate sample production.
• Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers related to Product Development samples.
• Initiate pre-production trial run for complex items. 
• Working closely with the Production Manager to resolve any issues that might arise in the Pre-Production Trial Run process.
• Ensure product quality and consistency throughout the development process.
• Conduct quality control checks on samples and pre-production runs.
• Managing QC issues from customers.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging materials, and market demands.
• Tag master samples with accurate product information and barcodes.
• Organise to make sure Master Samples are stored properly and easily found.
• Set up and maintain accurate product SKUs in Katana.
• Train on SKU setup processes and best practices.
• Product Setup/ Bill of Materials setup in Katana.
• Assist with preparing samples for photography shoots (Studio & Campaign).
• Upload approved photography assets to Master Web Spreadsheet for Web Upload.
• Manage and execute custom projects from initial concept to final delivery, including communicating effectively with the customers to understand their specific requirements.
